Birth of the Blog

  1. Tonight my Blog "Blessings and Beadlings" is born! What can one expect to find here? Great question! One can expect to find the part of me that has been bubbling away on a back burner for many years. While I have been working all these years first as a Nurse and then as a Jewish Educator, the artist in me has been yelling to be recognized. So -- at long last HERE SHE is!
What will one find here?...My art, stories, poetry, and day-to-day musings. Why did I choose the name "Blessings and Beadlings?" My life is filled with Blessings that produce so many amazing Gems or "Beadlings" of Joy, I wanted to share them with others. Please stop by anytime and share the "Blessings and Beadlings" of my life and yours. Sharon :-)

  4. Since my last post: Garage Sale, Rain, rain and more ..., devestating Tornados, Oprah says "till we meet again ..." Scotty wins American Idol and I am now a Certified Tai Chi Sifu (instrutor)! What can I say about a Garage Sale? It's a heck of a lot of work for a little bit of cash. Rain ... I attempted to trancend the pull toward "dreariness" and spent time reading, doing artwork, napping ... bought some flowers (in the rain) for the front yard demonstrating the kind of hope I have that the Sun will return! And indeed it has reappeared! Thank-you Mother Nature.

Yes, I do readily admit that I have been an Oprah fan AND an American Idol fan!! First - American Idol -- I don't always understand the reasoning behind the voting choices made. For instance, I think that while Lauren and Scottie do possess great talent, there were those whose talent was far greater in terms of versatility -- James, for instance, showed a huge range of talent as did Haley and Casey. I was shocked to see Pia voted off so early and still don't understand that decision. Oh well -- I do think that this year's group was amazingly talented and entertained us nicely each week and to Scottie -- Congrats and Mazel Tov!

Oprah -- There was one segment in particular during the Surprise Extravaganda (good word for this show) that touched me; it was the moment when the 400 men Oprah helped through college came to the stage during the singing of one of my favorite songs from WICKED, "For Good." Well done. Oprah, your show will be missed.

Finally -- the scenes and stories from areas hit by tornados were heart wrenching. I simply cannot imagine the terror one must feel watching such utter uncontrolable power approaching. I sit in our home believing it to be strong, safe and protecting ... as did, I suppose, each family whose house was obliterated in just seconds. What more do we have to witness in order to know once and for all ...form is impermanent and the future is an illusion. We have only this moment and nothing more. I have learned this not only through the words of Eckhardt Tolle, but from personal experience. I send prayers for healing, strength and comfort to everyone touched by this most recent tragedy. I hope that we can all come to a state of awakening and cherish the now ... the moment. If you have not read Eckardt Tolle's books or listened to him on CD, I stongly encourage you to do so. It could be life-changing. It was for me.

Sharing opportunity: What does the term "Awakening" mean to you?

    Sending Smiles -- Sharon :-)
